AP Plumbing has announced the winner of its first-ever “Plumbing Horror Story” Sweepstakes, a community campaign inviting homeowners across Rochester and Syracuse to share their most unforgettable plumbing disasters.
The contest generated submissions from across both service areas, with one Grand Prize winner selected based on the creativity and originality of their story.
2026 Winner
Timothy Brown of Honeoye, New York, was named the winner after sharing a plumbing nightmare that unfolded while he was away from his Upstate home during the winter. A power outage left the house without consistent heat, allowing moisture and condensation to build unnoticed.
When Brown returned, he discovered mold and even mushrooms growing in his bathroom, along with widespread condensation throughout the home. What appeared normal from the outside had quietly developed into a costly and stressful situation inside.
Brown received a $1,000 credit toward future plumbing services, which can be applied to repairs, maintenance, or system upgrades with AP Plumbing.
Beyond awarding a prize, the Sweepstakes highlighted a common homeowner’s risk. Winter conditions, power outages, and unattended properties can quickly create hidden plumbing and moisture issues.
